Spendiaryan’s portrait by M. Saryan
It was painted by M. Spendiarova’s /composer’s daughter/
and by V. Balyan’s demand /director of the memorial museum/ in 1967
The exhibition takes place in 2 halls. The first hall describes Spendiaryan's life and activity in Yalta, Moscow, St. Petersburg, as well as  his  letters, documents, photos, personal belongings during the period he lived in  Yerevan.
This is a concert hall for 40-45 people,  where the concerts are held.

One of the most remarkable exponents is a musical instrument  called "spendiaraphon". It was made by the composer from his leather belt and 12 bronze bells (in St. Petersburg, in 1900s). It has been used for the symphony "Three palms" and notified the sound of a caravan crossing the desert.  Its sounds like the bells.
Russian composer N. Rimski- Korsakov called it "spendiaraphon" as a joke.

Materials concerning Spendiaryan's compositions like manuscripts, notes, materials related to the history of "Almast" opera, Spendiaryan family's personal belongings   and museum items are shown in the second hall.
Furthermore, here you can see the first and only poster announcement of "Almast" held in Yerevan, 1933.

Although with a simple interior, the memorial room has been restored as it was during composer's lifetime. Among composer's personal belongings there is his piano from Yalta, the violin, the worktable, where his lovely wife's portrait and a red rose existed constantly.
